Ausperl

Ausperl

Ausperl is a well-established and reliable name in the manufacture of expanded perlite, vermiculite, and pumice. The company sources most of its perlite ore from its own quarry located in New Zealand’s central North Island, which is then processed into high-quality expanded perlite.

Perlite: We offer two popular grades, P400 Medium (1–4mm) and P500 Coarse (3–6mm), both suitable for horticultural use. Choose the medium grade for good moisture retention along with moderate aeration, or the coarse grade when enhanced drainage and airflow are more important. Available in 100-litre bulk bags or 50-litre half bags, which are repackaged from the full-size option. P500 coarse perlite is a popular growing medium for plants like bonsai, cactus, succulents and orchids.

Vermiculite is available in 3 grades: Grade 2 (2-4mm), Grade 3 (3-6mm), and Grade 4 (5-8mm) in 50 and 100 litre bags. Grade 2 is more suited for seed raising, certain plants and vegetables, soft cuttings, propagation, plant transplant mixes & hydroponics. Grade 3 is more suited to general potting mixes, garden beds, greenhouses, and plants like bonsai, cactus, succulents and orchids. Grade 4 is more suitable for large pots, trees, and larger bonsai and larger orchid varieties.

Pumice: Ausperl pumice is available in 4 grades: 1-2mm, 1-7mm, 4-20mm, 7-20mm in 25-litre bags. 1-2mm is suited to propagation use. 1-7mm is the main horticultural grade and is ideal for general garden use, and is popular for growing cacti, succulents, bonsai, orchids and many other plants. We also stock a convenient smaller 4.5 kg bag that is produced by splitting a full 25-litre bag. UXP is unexpanded perlite and is exclusive to Ausperl. It shares a lot of similarities with pumice; hence, the name "man-made pumice."
