Pyrethrum
Pyrethrum sprays are natural insecticides derived from the dried flowers of the Chrysanthemum plant. They are fast-acting, broad-spectrum, and relatively low in toxicity to humans and pets compared to synthetic chemicals. The trade-off is that it doesn't last as long as synthetic products and may require more frequent use to be effective. Pyrethrins break down quickly in sunlight, air, and soil, so they don’t persist long in the environment.
The dried flowers of Chrysanthemum contain natural insecticidal compounds called pyrethrins. Pyrethrins attack the insect’s nervous system, causing paralysis and death within minutes.
Pyrethrum or Pyrethrins provide an excellent natural insecticide, especially when combined with piperonyl butoxide, which boosts effectiveness by inhibiting insect detox enzymes.
Most pyrethrum products contain around 4g of pyrethrins per litre, whereas Kendon Pyrethrum contains 13g per litre, which is more than three times the strength of standard formulations.
