Diatomaceous Powder
Diatomaceous Earth or DE powder is a naturally occurring siliceous rock that crumbles into a soft white or grey powder. It’s composed mainly of the fossilised remains of diatoms, which are microscopic algae.
DE for Pest Control: Due to its abrasive texture and high absorbency, DE is beneficial as a natural insect killer. It works by mechanically damaging the exoskeletons of insects, causing them to dehydrate and die. Our super fine food-grade DE is especially effective at killing insects because it's only 10 microns. The finer the grade, the more microscopically sharp and hence more damaging to insects the powder will be. Non-toxic to humans and pets when used correctly. Popular for ants, fleas, bedbugs, mites, and cockroaches.
DE for Animal Health: Can be dusted on chickens or bedding to help control mites and lice. It can be added to poultry or livestock feed to help prevent internal and external parasites.
DE for Gardening: Sprinkled on soil or dusted on plants to deter slugs, beetles, and other pests.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Which type of DE would you recommend for using on plants?
A. Finer grades of DE are more effective at killing insects. The smaller particles make it more abrasive to insects. Our food grade options provide the finest grade we have at an average particle size of 10 microns.
