Tomato Big Boss (Lycopersicon esculentum) is a high-yielding tomato variety created from a cross between the heirloom varieties Big Dwarf and Brandywine. It produces large, tasty, pink-coloured tomatoes weighing approximately 350–425g. With its large fruit and earlier maturity, Big Boss is an excellent choice for home vegetable gardens and is ideal for salads, sandwiches and hot dishes.

Planting & Growing Tips

Plant Big Boss tomatoes in well-drained soil in a full sun position. Install a sturdy 2m stake at the time of planting to support the plant as it grows and carries its large fruit. Providing support early also helps avoid disturbing the root system later. Once flowers appear, apply a potassium (K) rich fertiliser to support flowering and fruit development. Water regularly and aim to keep soil moisture reasonably consistent, particularly while fruit is developing. Adding mulch around the root zone can help retain moisture and keep roots cooler during warm weather.

Companion Planting

Tomato Big Boss can be planted with basil, cucumber, lettuce, parsley or marigold.
