Brunnings Pumice+ is a hard, lightweight volcanic rock that is born out of the superheated earth. It contains many tiny air bubbles, which makes it very porous.
Pumice+ is an excellent soil conditioner for all plants, ideal for cacti, succulents, and plants that require greater drainage and porosity. The porosity also allows microbial life to thrive while maintaining soil structure better than many other conditioners. Pumice+ provides a neutral pH and a variety of trace minerals.
Pumice+ is an effective natural, physical barrier against fungus gnats when used as a surface barrier. This is due to the fine abrasive granules, which prevent gnats from entering or exiting the media, thereby breaking the life cycle.
Main Features:
- Natural physical barrier against fungus gnats
- Breaks the fungus gnats' breeding cycle
- Improves any growing media for indoor plants
- Creates better air porosity and water retention
- Ideal for cacti, succulents, ferns & other water-sensitive plants
How to Use:
Shake the bag well to get an even distribution of particle sizes. Tear or cut the bag to open along the marked dotted line. Seal the bag after use.
Soil Conditioning:
For general drainage improvement, mix 15% Pumice+ with growing media.
Plants requiring better drainage
For cacti, succulents, monsteras, calatheas, and plants requiring much better drainage, we recommend mixing 25-50% pumice into the growing media, depending on the quality of the media.
For cuttings that rot easily
Use pure Pumice+
Where amending soil is not practical.
Fill the planting hole with Pumice+ so the roots are surrounded by it. Then water to charge up the Pumice+ granules.
We recommend fertilising plants as required.
Gnat Barrier:
Creates a natural physical barrier against fungus gnats.
Pour and spread the Pumice+ granules on top of the potting soil to a depth of at least 3cm.
Ensure that the entire pot surface is covered.
Water gently and evenly to settle the granules.
Maintain the granules at a depth of 3cm to ensure an ongoing, effective barrier.
