Potassium Nitrate Greenhouse/Technical Grade is a fully soluble fertiliser containing Nitrogen and Potassium, recommended for vegetables, fruits, flowers, turf, vines, and ornamentals grown in soil and soilless culture.

Potassium Nitrate is the most readily available form of potassium and nitrogen. Nitrate-nitrogen improves potassium uptake by the plant. Promotes vigorous plant growth, fruiting, and stress tolerance without significantly altering soil pH.

Disclaimer: Only 25kg sold in original packaging. Other sizes are sold in a clear bag.

NOTE: This product may at times be labelled greenhouse grade or technical grade, but, for all intents and purposes, they are the same thing.

HOT TIP: Ideal as a stump remover! See below for more information on how to use potassium nitrate to remove tree stumps.

Advantages:

Campbell's Potassium Nitrate, Greenhouse Grade is a fully water-soluble, chloride-free fertiliser containing two essential elements for crop development, providing immediately available nitrogen and potassium.

Potassium Nitrate is the most readily available form of potassium and nitrogen. Nitrate-nitrogen improves potassium uptake by the plant.

Specifications:

13.7% Nitrogen and 38.4% Potassium.

Application:

Campbell's Potassium Nitrate, Greenhouse Grade, is suitable for fertigation (irrigation-based) and foliar application. It dissolves rapidly and completely, remaining in solution and ready for root adsorption, or is taken up via leaf surfaces.

Timing of applications is suitable at any time during the season; however, potassium nitrate is particularly suited to the later stages of crop development, when demand for potassium is greatest.

Campbell's Diamond Potassium Nitrate Greenhouse Grade is particularly important for:

  • Improving yields.
  • Fruit and vegetable size, sugar and colour development.
  • Flower development of fruit trees and ornamentals.

Campbell's Diamond Potassium Nitrate Greenhouse Grade:

  • It is not affected by temperature, so nutrients remain available even when conditions are cold and wet.
  • It does not acidify the soil.
  • It cannot be lost to the atmosphere, as with urea or ammonium-based fertilisers.

Rates:

General fertigation rates for horticultural crops range from 25 to 70 kg/ha. When applying potassium nitrate through the irrigation system more frequently and in smaller applications, it ensures nutrients are supplied to the plants without being lost to leaching or excessive rainfall. Foliar applications at 1-2%. As with any fertiliser program, it is best to seek advice from your Campbells Potassium Nitrate distributor or your local agronomist.

Using Potassium Nitrate to remove a tree stump (See disclaimer at the bottom before reading)

  • First, use a wide (at least 2.5cm) drill bit to drill several vertical holes into the top of the old stump.
  • Then, use the same drill bit to make several 45-degree angle holes into the side of the stump. These holes should intersect with the vertical holes you drilled into the top of the stump.
  • Now pour your potassium nitrate into the holes you drilled at the top of the stump.
  • Pour water into the holes, making sure not to wash out the potassium nitrate granules you packed in.
  • The 45-degree angle holes will function as vents for the potassium nitrate to gas off, as well as help further saturate the wood with the chemical solution.
  • Cover the stump with soil and mulch, then sprinkle more water on top. This will ensure the wood readily absorbs potassium nitrate.
  • This method takes approximately four to six weeks for the stump to turn soft and spongy. At that point, you should be able to dig out the remains of the stump with a shovel.
