Lawnporn History is a systemic lawn insecticide for controlling African black beetle larvae and billbug larvae in lawns and turf. This 1L liquid concentrate contains 250 g/L thiamethoxam, a Group 4A insecticide that acts systemically within the plant to target feeding pests.
Suitable for common lawn varieties including buffalo, couch, kikuyu and zoysia, it is best applied early, before larvae cause substantial damage to the lawn.
Features and coverage
- Targets young African black beetle larvae and billbug larvae.
- Low to no odour formulation.
- Suitable for turf with irregular irrigation, provided the required watering-in is completed after application.
- 1L concentrate treats approximately 8,333–12,500 m² at the stated application rates.
Application rate
| Lawn area | Product required | Minimum water |
|---|---|---|
| 100m² | 8–12mL | 5L |
| 500m² | 40–60mL | 25L |
| 1,000m² | 80–120mL | 50L |
Apply the mixture evenly over the measured area. The spray water does not replace watering-in: irrigate with 6–12mm of water, commencing within one hour of application.
African black beetle larvae
Apply before or during peak egg hatch, generally from mid-spring to early summer, or when small, first-instar larvae are present.
Billbug larvae
Monitor adult activity in late spring and early summer. Treat when adult numbers peak or small larvae, approximately 4mm long, appear in the thatch or surface soil. Use the higher rate for high pest pressure or second-instar larvae.
Mixing and spraying
Add the measured concentrate to a half-filled spray tank of clean water. Agitate while adding the remaining water and during spraying. Use calibrated equipment and extremely coarse droplets to place the spray near the soil surface, preferably on wet or dewy grass.
Precautions
- Do not apply when heavy rain is forecast.
- Follow all label requirements for protective clothing and equipment, including additional protection for backpack spraying.
- Keep people out until the spray has dried.
- Do not allow grazing of treated turf or feed treated clippings to poultry or livestock.
- Dangerous to bees: do not spray flowering plants while bees are foraging.
- Prevent spray drift and contamination of waterways.
Frequently asked questions
Can pets walk on the lawn after treatment?
Amgrow advises that pets can walk on the lawn once the product has been watered in. Keep pets away during treatment and until watering-in is complete and the lawn has dried. This does not mean treated grass is suitable for grazing.
Does it control every type of lawn grub?
The label reviewed specifies African black beetle larvae and billbug larvae. Identify the pest before treatment and check the current bottle label for its approved uses.
