Feeding Directions

Country Heritage Feeds Organic Backyard Soy Free Layer Mash is formulated for laying birds from approximately 18–20 weeks of age.

From around 16 weeks of age, it is advisable to gradually blend the layer mash with Country Heritage Feeds Organic Chicken Starter Grower to help provide a smooth transition onto the layer feed.

Daily Feeding Amount

Typical feed consumption for a backyard laying hen is approximately 130g–150g per bird per day.

Feed is best provided ad lib so birds can naturally regulate their consumption according to their energy requirements. A suitably designed self-feeder is recommended.

To minimise feed wastage, elevate the feeder so the chickens can comfortably access the mash but cannot easily scratch the feed onto the ground.

Always ensure birds have access to clean potable drinking water.
