Multicrop Keep Off contains a highly perfumed repellent which cats and dogs find offensive. It confuses their sense of smell and also masks the residual odour of any previous excrement or urine, which would normally attract them. Over a period of three to four weeks, animals can be trained to avoid the treated areas.
Traditional "repellents" are usually not very successful. They may work for a few hours or not at all! When it rains, the repellent may be washed away. In hot weather, the repellent may evaporate.
It may take longer to discourage animals that have been visiting for an extended period. Young puppies can take longer to respond. Certain gardening materials, such as blood and bone, can be a strong attraction for cats and dogs. This may overpower the effectiveness of the repellent.

Over a period of 4-6 weeks, cats & dogs can be trained to avoid the treated areas. There are exceptions to this rule, and some cats & dogs might need a longer training period. It is common for dogs & cats to excrete where you have placed the repellent and/or eat the product. This is their way of reclaiming "their" territory and trying to mask the smell of "Keep Off" with their own scent. Young puppies can also take longer to respond.

When using KEEP OFF spray, take care when spraying the foliage of shrubs or ornamental, soft-bodied plants. The active is phytotoxic to this type of plant growth. It does not appear to affect ordinary lawn grasses. Nor does it affect the foliage of common evergreen shrubs adversely. It does not appear to harm hardy, woody perennials (including roses) when applied to trunks or stems. It can spot-burn the leaves of some plants, and it is advisable to test on sensitive plants beforehand.
KEEP OFF gel and spray were tested without adverse effects on a variety of surfaces and fabrics in and around the home, e.g., tiles, varnished timber, plastic-covered furniture, upholstery fabric, and coloured cloth of various types.
