Frequently Asked Questions
What can Escar-Go be used for?
The home garden product repels snails and slugs. The nursery registration covers snail deterrence on trees, vines and suitable surfaces.
How does the barrier work?
Its buffered copper silicate leaves an insoluble residue after drying, creating a barrier snails avoid. Kendon reports that this residue can protect plants and structures for months.
How should I use it in my garden?
Follow the home garden application instructions above, using the retail label for the complete directions and restrictions.
What are the nursery application directions?
Before spring flowering, thoroughly treat tree trunks and lower branches. Treat vine trunks and affected canes before the first new leaves expand. Wet permitted surfaces thoroughly. Consult the commercial label before application.
Can it be sprayed onto leaves?
Avoid foliage. Nursery restrictions also exclude spraying shoots and buds.
How long must I wait before harvesting?
Leave at least one day between treatment and harvesting edible plants.
Can it be used around pets and beneficial insects?
The manufacturer identifies dogs, cats, birds, ants and bees as compatible with labelled use. This does not mean the liquid should be fed to animals. Prevent contamination of ponds, waterways and drainage systems.
Which surfaces or situations should I avoid?
Never apply to metal. Nursery directions also prohibit spraying plants in glasshouses or treating wet vegetation and surfaces during rain. Treated packing and produce-handling surfaces must dry before use.
What precautions and first aid are required?
Prevent skin and eye exposure and clean hands afterwards. For nursery use, wear long PVC gloves and goggles or a face shield; clean protective equipment and clothing daily. Wait for drying before entry or handling, unless wearing chemical-resistant gloves. For suspected poisoning, call a doctor or Australia’s Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
How should I store it and discard containers?
Keep the original container sealed, cool, dry, shaded and inaccessible to children. Rinse home garden spray containers after use. Wrap empty retail packaging in paper, bag it and place it in household rubbish. Commercial containers require the separate rinsing and disposal procedure on their label.
