Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Are these oats suitable for human consumption?
A. These oats are for birds only and are not certified for human consumption.
Q. Do these oats still have their hull (husk) on?
A. Yes, these oats do have their hull in place. Our Hulled Oates (see below) have their hull removed.
Q. Are these oats suitable to grow in a pot as my cats prefer oat or barley grass and don't like cat grass?
A. Yes, these oats are fine for planting and usually grow well however they are wont have the super high germination rate of seeds produced specifically for planting, but it's usually plenty for most uses.
Q. I'm looking to buy whole oats to grow mushrooms and wanted to know if any fungicide was used in the production of the oats that might inhibit mushroom growth?
A. I got this answer from our supplier "Our position - we sell oats for stockfeed not for planting seed. We buy the grain under GTA standards (grain trade Australia) There is no provision to test for nor provide information about fungicide/herbicide/fertilizers used etc. I'd guess that is because it's not an issue further down the supply/processing chain. To be sure of origin they would need to buy certified organic seed oats, which would be difficult. I'd suggest they try some whole oats and see how it goes in a small test run - bearing in mind each load that we get in is a different supply point"
