The feed specifications are aligned with the standard Backyard Layer range, but added ingredients in the feed avoid the inclusion of any gluten-containing cereals or soybean products.

Application Utilising other organic protein meals such as sunflower meal, safflower meal, linseed meal, meat meal and fishmeal, the Backyard Layer No Added Gluten or Soy feed offers a 16% protein ration with essential vitamins and minerals to ensure consistency in laying and to provide well formed, strong-shelled eggs with vibrant yolks.
Direction Backyard Layer No Added Gluten or Soy feed is formulated for laying birds (approx. 18–20 weeks). It is advisable to blend layer feed with CHF Organic Chicken Starter Grower feed from 16 weeks to assist with the transition onto the layer feed.
Typical feed consumption for a backyard laying hen fed on the Backyard Layer No Added Gluten or Soy feed is between 100g–130g per head per day and is best provided ad lib as the birds naturally regulate their consumption according to their energy requirements.
A specially designed self-feeder is the most suitable method of doing this. To obtain minimal wastage, ensure that the feeder is elevated so the birds can comfortably access the feed, but high enough so they cannot scratch it onto the ground with their feet. Always ensure that birds have access to clean potable drinking water.

A. Hi, I got this reply from the manufacturer.
"In our No Added Gluten or Soy feeds we have not included any Wheat or Barley in the feed. We cannot confidently guarantee the absence of gluten because of the nature of our feed mill. It is packaged and processed in the same facility and with the same equipment as our normal products. Depending on the severity of their allergies this could be suitable for them, there is just no guarantee. If they have someone else who could handle their feed and store it in a separate location to other ingredients no gluten or soy would be present in their eggs. Gluten and soy do not pass through into egg production but having the no added gluten and soy feed reduces the risk of gluten being present on the outside of the egg shell from the environment"
