How to use
Use the mix directly for potting and repotting. Do not add garden soil, as the packaging advises this will upset the balance of the mix.
The manufacturer's repotting directions are:
- Water the plant sufficiently the day before repotting.
- Choose a clean replacement pot with drainage holes. The packaging recommends a pot at least 5–7cm wider than the previous one.
- Place a layer of potting mix in the bottom third of the pot.
- Gently remove the plant from its existing container, supporting it carefully.
- Position the plant in the new pot and fill around it with fresh mix.
- Press the mix lightly, keeping the planting level no higher than it was in the previous pot.
- Water until it flows from the drainage holes, topping up the mix if necessary.
- Keep the newly potted plant in a shaded area while it establishes.
Watering and feeding
The packaging recommends checking moisture approximately 1cm below the surface and watering thoroughly when dry. Adjust watering to suit the plant, season and growing conditions, allowing excess water to drain away.
For cacti, the manufacturer recommends small amounts of a low-nitrogen fertiliser every 3–4 months during active growth. Follow the fertiliser label for application rates.

When should I repot my cactus or succulent?
Spring, summer and early autumn are the recommended repotting periods, avoiding very hot weather. Roots growing through drainage holes or forming a thick spiral around the base of the root ball are signs that repotting may be needed.
Do I need to mix this cactus and succulent potting mix with soil?
No. The mix is already formulated to balance drainage, aeration and moisture retention. Adding garden soil can alter that balance, so the manufacturer advises against it.
