Searles Buffalo Master Selective Weedkiller is a concentrated lawn herbicide for controlling bindii, white clover, creeping oxalis and other listed broadleaf weeds. The re-released formula contains MCPA, clopyralid and diflufenican and is available in 250mL and 500mL packs.
Updated formulation: This product replaces the previous bromoxynil-based Buffalo Master. Follow the directions on the new packaging.
Weeds controlled
Bindii (Jo-Jo/Onehunga), white clover, plantain, capeweed, cat’s ear, cudweed and creeping oxalis.
Active ingredients
- 300 g/L MCPA, present as the potassium salt.
- 20 g/L clopyralid, present as the olamine salt.
- 15 g/L diflufenican.
Group 4 and Group 12 herbicide.
Application and lawn suitability
The label rate is 5L in 200–500L water per hectare, equivalent to 50mL in 2–5L water per 100m². At this rate, 250mL treats 500m² and 500mL treats 1,000m².
Test sensitive buffalo varieties, including ST85, on a small area first. Temporary discolouration can occur on kikuyu, carpet grass and Queensland blue couch. Do not use on bent grass or winter grass golf and bowling greens.
Shake before mixing. Treat actively growing weeds; avoid stressed turf, imminent frost and rain within four hours. Avoid mowing for 3–4 days before and after treatment. Follow all label instructions, including spray-drift and protective-clothing requirements.

How quickly does Buffalo Master work?
Complete weed control can take up to six weeks.
When can pets return to the lawn?
Keep people and pets away until the spray dries. This does not authorise grazing: do not graze treated turf or feed treated clippings to animals. For rabbits, seek product-specific advice from Searles.
